For those looking to go beyond stroke improvement, we offer the option to incorporate yoga and mindfulness into training. These practices enhance flexibility, strength, and focus, supporting overall performance in the water. However, for swimmers who prefer a more focused approach to technique refinement, we also offer individualized swim coaching that concentrates solely on stroke improvement.

About Laura Harvey

Laura Harvey is the founder of Fluid Balance Swimming, with decades of experience in both swim coaching and wellness practices. As a NCCP Level 3 Trained coach, Laura has worked with swimmers of all ages and abilities, from beginners to national-level competitors, including para-athletes. She currently coaches at Strathcona County Swim Club, where she is known for her patient and thoughtful approach to helping swimmers refine their techniques and build confidence in the water.

Blending Mind and Body for Peak Performance

In addition to her swim coaching career, Laura has been a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor since 2002. She incorporates these practices into her swim coaching, using mindfulness and yoga to help swimmers improve not only their physical technique but also their mental focus, resilience, and balance. This unique approach allows athletes to perform at their best in and out of the water, blending physical and mental training for well-rounded development.

While Laura’s career has included highlights like coaching Western Canadian and Junior National Championship finalists, her true passion lies in seeing each individual athlete grow and reach their personal best—whether in the pool or in life. Her commitment to both physical and mental well-being is at the heart of everything she does at Fluid Balance Swimming.

Tiered Coaching Options

For our Tiers 2 and 3 coaching options, we use OnForm, a video analysis tool that allows you to receive detailed, personalized feedback on your swim technique. After each session, I’ll provide a custom video breakdown of your strokes, highlighting areas for improvement with annotations, slow-motion analysis, and drills to help you progress faster. This video feedback allows you to review and refine your technique beyond the pool, ensuring continuous improvement between sessions.

Tier 1: Basic Swim Coaching

For swimmers looking to improve technique without video analysis. These sessions are 1 hour long.

In-Person Swim Coaching (1 hour per session)

  • 6-Session Package: $450 (Save $30)

Tier 2: Swim Coaching with OnForm Video Analysis

For swimmers who want detailed feedback through personalized video analysis. After each session, you will receive a video with breakdowns of your stroke technique.

If you have someone available to hold a phone or iPad, we offer full hour virtual coaching sessions through Zoom. This is especially effective for swimmers who use endless pools, where I can provide live feedback and guidance during your session, just as if we were in person. In addition to the live coaching, you will also receive OnForm video feedback after the session, with detailed analysis and personalized drills for improvement.

Subscription Tiers for Virtual Swim Coaching

Our subscription model is designed to provide you with consistent, personalized feedback through detailed video analysis of your swim technique. This service is not a live coaching session but a thorough review of your swim footage, which is analyzed using OnForm. However, for clients with access to an endless pool or those who have someone available to hold a phone or iPad, we also offer full hour virtual coaching sessions via Zoom.

How Virtual Stroke Analysis Works

At Fluid Balance Swimming Inc., we use advanced video analysis technology through OnForm to provide personalized and detailed feedback on your swimming technique. Here’s how the process works:

Step 1: Purchase Your Package

Once you purchase your virtual stroke analysis package, you’ll receive clear instructions on how to capture the best video of your swim for analysis. This process is designed to be easy and effective, ensuring we get all the footage we need for accurate feedback.

Step 2: Record Your Video

To ensure the best possible feedback, we recommend filming your stroke from a side view and an end-of-lane view. If possible, include underwater footage for a complete stroke breakdown.

Step 3: Submit Your Video

Simply upload your video directly through OnForm. This user-friendly platform makes it easy for you to submit videos and communicate with your coach. All feedback is delivered within the app, streamlining the process for you.

Step 4: Receive Your Personalized Video Feedback

Within a few days, you’ll receive a detailed video analysis with personalized commentary, slow-motion breakdowns, and specific drills tailored to your needs. We focus on enhancing your technique, providing you with a video breakdown that you can watch, review, and use for continuous improvement—whenever you need.
